Action Carbine 101
August 8, 2015 1:00pm-6:00pm Lethbridge Fish and Game Range $40 payable in advance Maximum 12 students per clinic so PLEASE register as soon as you know you can make it! Action Carbine 101 has been designed specifically for those who are looking to improve their foundational skills and move on to the next level when using their carbine. Many individuals have purchased an AR variant rifle (although there are many more carbines than just that platform) and have not had the opportunity to really learn its capabilities or how to safely use it to engage targets when doing anything other than standing behind the line at a range. During this clinic, students will begin in a classroom where all of the information will be shared in a low pressure environment before moving on to the range. On the Range, students will learn to use their firearm safely, quickly, and instinctively by having the opportunity to perform dry and live fire drills under the guidance of a Certified Instructor; thus giving them the chance to practice the techniques learned in the classroom. The live fire drills used during this course are designed to reinforce all the topics covered during the training. Again, this clinic was designed to take you to the next level and help you to properly handle and use a firearm for action oriented purposes. Whether you are a new carbine owner looking to build their foundation or an experienced competitor looking to fine tune some fundamentals; if you currently use, or have considered using, your firearm for competition/action oriented purposes, this course is for you! Topics Covered: Students will begin this course with a review of the parts of their rifle and the type of equipment used in action shooting. Then we will quickly move into the skills and tactics needed to properly deploy and use a carbine in a competitive environment. This will include proper techniques for mounting the rifle and getting on target instinctively. We will cover ways of reloading, how to recognize and fix malfunctions, shooting on the move, rapid fire techniques, and using different shooting positions through drills done with multi port barriers.
